Architecture an Lanscape Architecture Portfolios
Every applicant to the Master of Architecture, Master of Science in Design, Master of Environmental Builing Design, Master of Lanscape Architecture, Master of Science in Architecture, or PhD in Architecture program is require to submit a igital portfolio. Paper portfolios will NOT be accepte, an if submitte, will not be returne. The portfolio is a synopsis of one’s creative work. As a visual essay, it tells a story of a person’s interests, skills, an evelopment over time. It shoul inclue projects that best express one’s visual, spatial, an constructional abilities. These projects might inclue rawings, paintings, sculpture, or photography; graphic, inustrial, or interior esign; architectural, lanscape, or urban esign. The faculty who evaluate the portfolios look less for competence in architectural or lanscape architectural esign an more for a coherent emonstration of visual an spatial abilities expresse through a basic unerstaning of material an construction. Applicants to the MEBD an MArch II/PPD shoul inclue at least five fully evelope projects one solely by the person submitting the portfolio; other group work can be ae.
The igital portfolio shoul be formatte as one PDF ocument no larger than 25 MB , with no more than 20 pages (maximum page size 10 x 12&rquo;) or 10 pages (maximum 10x24&rquo;) if you use spreas. Cover pages or table of contents o not count towars total pages. Once your application is submitte, you will not be able to make changes to your portfolio or uploa a new one

Grauate Recor Examination scores are require of all but MFA applicants regarless of whether they are from the U.S. or abroa. Official test scores must be sent by ETS to the School of Design. The correct institution coe to use when requesting scores is 2926. You o not nee a epartmental coe.. We suggest a minimum of 160 Verbal, 148 Quantitative, an 4.5 for Analytical Writing. Keep in min that these are not cut-off scores.
International applicants whose native language is not English an whose unergrauate training has not been conucte in the English language must submit satisfactory certification of aequate English proficiency sufficient to pursue grauate stuy, both comprehension an expression in the spoken an written wor. Applicants must submit scores of either the International English Language Testing System (IELTS Acaemic) or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). We suggest a minimum score of 100 on the TOEFL an a ban score of 7.5 for the IELTS , but these are not cut-off scores an we will review any complete application we receive.

Q: Is there a cut-off score for the GPA, GRE, IELTS Acaemic or TOEFL exams?
A: We o not have a cut-off for the GPA or GRE scores although we prefer to see at least a 3.3 or above for the GPA, 160 or above for the verbal GRE, 148 or above for the quantitative section, an 4.5 or above for the analytical writing section. Most epartments require a TOEFL score of 100 or higher (internet-base) or 600 or higher (paper-base) in orer for caniates to be amitte unconitionally or a ban score of 7.5 for the IELTS Acaemic. The Department offers two primary courses of stuy leaing to a professionally accreite Master of Lanscape Architecture (MLA). The first professional egree program is three years in length an is esigne for stuents with an unergrauate egree in a fiel other than lanscape architecture or architecture. The secon professional egree is two years in length an is esigne for those who alreay hol an accreite bachelors egree in either lanscape architecture or architecture. Stuents may be amitte with avance staning into either of these programs epening upon their respective backgrouns. Dual egree programs with architecture (MLA/MARCH), city planning (MLA/MCP), historic preservation (MLA/ MSHP) or fine arts (MLA/MFA) are also available. All of the above name egrees may be combine with certificate programs in Historic Preservation, Urban Design, or Real Estate an Development. The Department also offers a Certificate in Lanscape Stuies, esigne for stuents who may wish to augment or focus their prior work through research into lanscape topics.
