Overview
Our Summer School is esigne to appeal to boys an girls from all over the worl, running
throughout the summer holiays on our stunning coastal campus, where they have plenty of
space to learn an explore.
Careful consieration is given to ensure that all communication ur ing the stuents’ time here
at Rossall Summer School is in English. With this in min, we try our best, where possible, to
recruit a goo balance of nationalities to our Summer School.
Our inter national stuents will also have the opportunity to mix with English stuents at meal
times an ur ing after noon an evening activities on a number of weeks when our resiential
an non-resiential courses are running uring 2020.
Three years ago, we launche a bran new initiative, offer ing specialise skills weeks to our
stuents. Following the success of these skills, we are continuing to offer stuents in 2020 the
opportunity to choose from fourteen ifferent specialise skills weeks (two per week, alongsie
English tuition).
Those who ecie not to choose a specialise skill can enjoy a fun packe programme of
creative activities an sports.
Rossall Summer School utilises the school’s extensive facilities, allowing us to offer a var ie
programme to suit everyone.
In 2020, following on from the success of the introuction of our Junior Summer School
Programme in 2019, we are now accepting pupils from the age of 7. For more infor mation
please see the eicate Junior section towars the en of this brochure.
Aitionally, for 2020, we are organising unique, whole weeken tr ips to Lonon an Einburgh
for pupils to explore these two capital cities in epth.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROGRAMME
AGE
The Senior Programme is open to chilren age 12-17.
D U R AT I O N
Stuents can stay for as many weeks as they wish, however, we o insist on a minimum stay of
two weeks.
We also recommen that any cur rent or prospective stuents wishing to join us at Rossall
School in September, shoul enrol on the last two weeks of the summer programme. This will
help the stuent with their English Language skills in preparation for the start of ter m. It will
also help them get to know the campus an facilities, an ensure a smooth transition into the
main school system.
CLASSES
Our class sizes will never excee ten stuents per class with the exception of our
stuent-centre project lessons, where the emphasis is on group work with the opportunity
to present their project work to all of the stuents at the en of the week. On ar r ival,
stuents will sit a short English test to etermine their ability level.
Stuents will then be allocate to a class accoring to age an language ability.
ENGLISH
Each stuent will receive 20 hours of English as
an Aitional Language tuition per week from
fully qualifie (EAL) teachers.
By the en of their stay at Rossall Summer
School the stuents will have:

• Improve their writing skills
• Improve their reaing ability
• Increase their listening skills
Stuents who stay with us for three or
more weeks will receive an English
language certificate.
