曼彻斯特大学（曼大，University of Manchester），于1824年始建，坐落于英格兰曼彻斯特市，是一所世界著名综合研究型大学，英国著名的六所红砖大学之首，以生命科学、工程、人文、经济学、社会学、与医学为最。
该校迄今共产生25位诺贝尔奖得主。曼彻斯特大学的约翰·莱兰兹图书馆藏书规模位居全英大学第三，仅次于牛津大学和剑桥大学。学校前身是建于1851年的欧文斯学院，1880年升格为维克多利亚曼彻斯特大学，1903年被正式命名为曼彻斯特大学。曼大以教学严谨，学术风气自由著称。其在2013/14QS世界大学排名中，位居英国第8名、欧洲第11名、全球第33名。在英国专门研究大学毕业生就业市场的研究机构High Flier Research发布的2013-2014年最受顶级雇主青睐大学排名中，曼大位居全英第2名，也是近5年唯一一直位居全英前3的大学。
如今的曼彻斯特大学由曼彻斯特维多利亚大学和曼彻斯特理工大学合并而成。全英国仅有6所大学享有这一红砖大学地位，分别是曼彻斯特大学、布里斯托大学、谢菲尔德大学、伯明翰大学、利兹大学和利物浦大学。她们都是英国最顶尖的老牌名校，这个称谓主要是有别于牛津和剑桥大学。
2004年10月22日，曼彻斯特维多利亚大学与曼彻斯特理工大学合并，从此组成了英国最大的单一校址大学，新的学校被称为曼彻斯特大学。合并后的曼彻斯特大学的校训是“Cognitio, Sapientia, Humanitas”，英文为“Knowlege, Wisom, Humanity”，中文意思是“知识，智慧，人性”。2020年4月2日，与南京大学、新南威尔士大学、爱丁堡大学等高校正式宣布成立国际大学气候联盟。
