2016年1月20日，美国著名流行音乐学院-伯克利音乐学院与著名古典音乐学院-波士顿音乐学院正式宣布合并，并在伯克利音乐学院表演中心举办签字仪式。两校将于2016年6月正式合并，合并后的学校名称为伯克利音乐学院，原波士顿音乐学院改名为伯克利波士顿音乐学院(The Boston Conservatory at Berklee)。合并后，两校将共享教学资源，但在招生录取和学科管理方面仍然保持相对独立，以充分发挥各自在流行音乐和古典音乐方面的学科优势
