美国东北大学（northeastern university），简称nu，成立于1898年，是一所国际级私立研究型大学，位于美国东北部马萨诸塞州的波士顿市，被新英格兰院校协会认可。东北大学有多于35个研究和教育中心。在以往以及现在的教员中，有数位获得古根海姆基金和一位国际天才发明奖获得者，一位美国总统的民主党候选人和一位普利策奖获得者。东北大学是世界上最先实行带薪实习项目的大学之一，与国内及国际上很多知名且在该项目中非盈利的合作伙伴，包括主流纸媒和电视节目、国际律所、银行、政府机构和企业，很多世界500强的公司。每年约有5000名学生加入到2500余家雇主，参与到带薪实习项目中来。
学校历史
1898年，基督教青年会在波士顿创办了东北大学的前身“青年夜校”，并于同年10月3日开始授课。成立仅仅几年，青年夜校就开设了多个学科的课程，覆盖了法律、工程、金融等多个专业。1909年，学校获得全日制大学的地位。1916年，获得了本科学位授予资格。1922年，学校更名为“东北大学”。1937年，东北大学董事会成立。1948年，东北大学脱离基督教青年会，成为一个独立运营的大学。
卫星校区
东北大学主校区位于波士顿的芬威文化区。除主校区外，还在马萨诸塞州其他地方建立了本科授课校区，比如在伯灵顿运营了一家科斯达斯研究所，在波士顿市中心希尔顿酒店有一处金融校区、在戴德镇的戴德校区和纳罕的海洋科学中心。
另外，东北大学还成立了两个研究生授课校区：北卡罗来纳州夏洛特（2011年）和西雅图（2013年）。此外，东北大学还计划在加州硅谷、德州奥斯汀和明尼阿波利斯开办分校区。
