雪城大学是一家私立研究型大学，位于美国纽约州雪城。它成立于1870年，最早可以追溯到由卫理公会于1832年成立的神学院，最终成为杰纳西学院。 1920年，雪城大学宣布自己为无宗派学校，但仍保持着与美国卫理公会的联系。雪城大学在1966年加入美国大学联盟。 雪城大学赢得了“美国政治家摇篮”的美誉，也是培养美国著名大学校长的摇篮之一。雪城大学的拉丁文校训是 “ suos cultores scientia coronat ” ，中文意思是 “ 知识为追寻她的人加冕 ” （knowlege crowns those who seek her）。在雪城大学的宪章上，书写着“光明与真知” 两个字，这也构成了雪城大学最核心的精神。
地理位置：
雪城市居纽约州中部，素有central new york之称，是纽约州第四大城，是一中型的城市。治安良好，环境优美，湖光山色，是十分美丽的都市。属于大陆型气候，四季分明，"逢春飘花，临夏荫浓，城秋枫红，瑞雪隆冬"是最佳写照，因受湖效应的影响，下雪量较多。而雪城大学位于五大湖中安大略湖南方数十里的syracuse市郊上，距纽约市及多伦多均只有5个多小时的行车时间。
气候：
雪城夏季气温约介于18摄氏度至30摄氏度，冬季则介于-10摄氏度至5摄氏度之间，因受湖效应的影响，下雪量较多。
交通：
雪城在过去两个世纪中是重要的交通枢纽，先是成为伊利运河和其支流的枢纽，后来又成为铁路枢纽。今天，雪城坐落于81号和90号州际公路的交汇处，并拥有本地区最大的机场。
