初到美国，给孩子选学校大概是每个家长认为最重要的事，但家长也被各种来自不同组织的学校排名搞得眼花缭乱。但在美国本土， niche列出的学校的评级相对更有说服力。niche会更列出了学校名字，等级，所在城市和州，方便大家查看。niche这个网站上面还有很多reviews，看看大家的评论也会对学校选择有很大的帮助。不过排名只是一个参考，任何排名都有局限性，选学校不能光看排名，还要看当地的整体教育水平，但是通过排名可以初步判断一下学校的档次。
niche，是个美国非常受欢迎的学校排名网站，信息相对全面，每所学校的信息都会被汇集到“nichereport cars”。包括学术环境、教学成果、学校文化、设施条件等等学生家长最关心的问题，都会用a+、a、a-、b+、b等等等级划分，给予一目了然的评价。而且，niche对数据来源的把控也相对严格。每项信息的最后，还能看到这些数据来源，还有来自于用户反馈得出的信息结论。所以，来这边看学校情况还是相对准确和全面的。这些来自于用户的学校评论有时候比数据更能让我们更加真实的了解学校，所以也更具参考价值。学校本身的排名的种类也是多种多样的，有“最好的私立高中”、“最好的k-12私立学校”、“最好的寄宿高中”、“最好的天主教学校”、“最好的基督教学校”等等。
