Application Materials require:
Unergrauate training in economics is esirable, but exceptions are mae in cases of stuents with appropriate alternative backgrouns. Unergrauate training in statistics an multivariable calculus is require, plus superior performance on the verbal, quantitative, an analytical aptitue sections of the GRE.
The core courses in typical Ph.D. programs in economics, incluing Georgetown’s, are highly mathematical. The typical matriculant to the Georgetown Ph.D. program has a strong mathematics backgroun an achieves above the 80th percentile on the quantitative section of the GRE. Ieally, applicants shoul have complete three semesters of calculus an one semester each of linear algebra an ifferential equations. Courses in Real Analysis an/or Measure Theory are highly esirable.
Results of the General Test of the Grauate Recor Examination (GRE) are require for all applicants. There is no require minimumscore on the GRE. Georgetown University’s reporting coe is 5244. Test scores must be receive by the application ealine ate. Applicants shoul allow six to eight weeks from the test ate for the reporting of scores to the institution. ENGLISH PROFICIENCY: TOEFL / IELTS
All applicants are require to emonstrate a level of proficiency in the English language sufficient to meet the amission requirement of the Grauate School of Arts an Sciences. Proficiency can be emonstrate by the receipt of a bachelor’s or avance egree from an accreite institution of higher eucation in the Unite States or from a university where English is the primary language of instruction (please note that applicants receiving egrees at universities in U.S. territories, such as Puerto Rico, are require to submit the TOEFL or IELTS unless the primary language of instruction at the institution is English). All other applicants must achieve at least a minimum score on either the TOEFL or IELTS test. Test scores must be receive by the application ealine ate. Degree Requirements
For the master’s program stuents will be expecte to complete the minimum of 30 course creits by taking a combination of core an elective courses.
