马来西亚博特拉大学（UPM）马来西亚顶尖的大学之一，也是全马来西亚五所领先的研究型大学之一，全球综合排名第202位；教育专业文凭被美国所承认，在UPM教育学院毕业的学生可以在美国任何一所学校任教。对比中国大学，UPM排名前面为南京大学，后为武汉大学与同济大学。若把UPM放在中国大学排名内，位列第8名。
UPM建立于1931年，起初是一所农业大学，经过近83年的发展，UPM早已成为一所综合性的高等教育学府。目前，UPM是马来西亚最大的公立大学之一，拥有在校生近30000人。他也是一个迷你的“联邦国家”，拥有来自超过60个国家的3000多名国际学生，该是一个民族大熔炉。

【图书馆】
UPM的图书馆有个很长的名字，叫做苏丹阿卜杜勒萨马德（Sultan Abul Sama Library），主馆位于校园中心位置，藏书超过100万册，其中包括50,000多种期刊（一半以上是电子版）。主馆提供宽敞的阅读区、电子阅览室、视听观赏区以及充足的复印和打印设施。最有特色的要属学习室了。
这里有专门为本科生提供的学习室，可以在这里进行小组讨论、完成日常作业以及研究和撰写报告。分馆位于各个院系，比较有名的是兽医医学图书馆，其他的还包括医学与健康科学图书馆，工程与建筑图书馆以及民都鲁校园图书馆。
【学生社团】
在UPM，学校致力于培养卓越学术成果与丰富课外实践兼具的综合素质的学生。为了实现这一目标，学校提供了一系列学生社团，大家可以根据自己的兴趣任意加入一种社团：
武术/自卫类、运动和休闲类、领导类、企业家类、精神类、文化类、福利类、学院类。
学校的运动设施齐全：体育馆、设备齐全的健身房、室外游泳池、足球场、曲棍球球场以及带有灯光的竞技场。UPM拥有全国最好的草地球场，带有18个洞的专业高尔夫球场。此外，UPM还设有国际标准的网球场和奥林匹克规格的游泳池，仅供学校师生使用，入场免费。
