Please note that it is not permissible to enroll while in B-1/B-2 status. In aition, if stuying on a stuent visa, you must enroll full-time (12 creits per term) an stuy on campus.
The curriculum focuses on the commercial an resiential builing sectors but covers processes of construction aministration that are applicable to any kin of project – from staiums an parks, to railroa terminals an airports, to briges an tunnels. The program's twelve courses focus on the funamentals of construction aministration: cost estimating an project financing, techniques, human an material resources, construction law, conflict resolution, project management, an environmental safety an conservation.
Program Structure
During the first term, stuents enroll in five courses: two short-core courses (1.5 creits each), two concurrent full-core courses (3 creits each), an their choice of either an ENGINEERING CORE or ALT Engineering course (3 creits). Following the first term, stuents are require to complete five aitional courses: two short-core courses (1.5 creits each), two concurrent full-core courses (3 creits each), an their choice of either an ENGINEERING CORE or ALT Engineering course(3 creits). During the thir term, stuents enroll in five courses:two short electives (1.5 creits each), one full-core course(3 creits), one elective-full(3 creits), an the Capstone Project (3 creits).
Stuents will choose from one of the short-electives for the Construction Leaership seminar + if they test out of Elementals.
Non-core electives may be chosen from courses offere through this program or, with the permission of the program irector, from those offere through other schools or epartments of the University.
In orer to receive the M.S. egree, full-time stuents must complete the egree requirements within two years (4 terms excluing summer) with an overall grae point average of 3.0 (B) or better. The recommene timeframe for completion is one year.
Time Commitment
The M.S. in Construction Aministration is challenging an requires a significant commitment of time an energy. Most classes are scheule in the evening an are two to three hours each. Stuents shoul plan on allocating a minimum of one to two hours of homework for each hour spent in class. Capstone Project classes may require stuents to spen time at actual construction sites uring the ay an/or weeken.
