免疫学：
所谓“免疫”原由拉丁字“immunis”而来，其原意为“免除税收”（exceptionfromcharges）， 也包含着“免于疫患”之意。免疫学是研究生物体对抗原物质免疫应答性及其方法的生物-医学科学。免疫应答是机体对抗原刺激的反应，也是对抗原物质进行识别和排除的一种生物学过程。
是机体识别“自身”与“非己”抗原，对自身抗原形成天然免疫耐受，对“非己”抗原产生排斥作用的一种生理功能。正常情况下，这种生理功能对机体有益，可产生抗感染、抗肿瘤等维持机体生理平衡和稳定的免疫保护作用。在一定条件下，当免疫功能失调时，也会对机体产生有害的反应和结果，如引发超敏反应、自身免疫病和肿瘤等。
免疫学是一门既古老而又新兴的学科。免疫学的发展是人们在实践中不断探索、不断总结和不断创新的结果。一般认为免疫学的发展经历了四个时期即经验免疫学时期、经典免疫学时期、近代免疫学时期和现代免疫学时期。
