---在芸芸众多申请者中,不仅仅是UBC学校,所有的大学申请在筛选档案时,其实并不期望寻找有多么奇特经历的学生,申请者的回答也没有对错之分,他们最喜欢看到学生的Critical Thinking,也就是我们常说的批判性思维,以一种合理的,反思的,心灵开放的方式进行思考,从而能清晰准确地表达。


Engagement an accomplishment

How o you pursue your interests(个人兴趣爱好) an manage your responsibilities(人生观,责任感)? What o you o with your time when you are not in class? (时间分配,课后安排体现综合实力)What woul you (or others in your community) consier your most significant contributions an accomplishments(价值观,认为最重要的贡献和成就)? Whether it's winning an international awar or taking care of a younger sibling, any experience can teach you something about yourself an/or the worl aroun you(世界观). We want to know what you have been oing (经历过哪些事情)an what have you have learne(从经历中学到什么) from your experiences. Make sure to give specific examples.(实例)

上文重点解读: 从以上短短的6句话中可以解读出,申请加拿大院校在软性条件方面,看重申请者所谓"个人兴趣爱好“,是需要从个人兴趣爱好,课后生活安排中的经历,体现出申请者的人生观,价值观和世界观,并且make sure提供specific examples,从某一经历中进行深刻思考。

Have you unertaken responsibilities an activities that have benefite those aroun you(参与活动,承担责任) an/or contribute to your community in a meaningful way(有意义的贡献)? If so, what have you learne about yourself (活动中的自我反思,自我校准)an others in the process(从他人身上得到的启示)? Leaership can come in many forms. Any act of responsibility an/or initiative that serves others(强调承担责任的主动性) is a form of leaership. Leaership can be emonstrate in a formal role, within a group (强调teramwork中的领导)(e.g., being presient of a club or captain of a team), or in an informal role, as an iniviual(作为一个个体主动贡献力量) (e.g., taking it upon yourself to help in your community). An remember – it's not just(不仅仅担任领导这个角色) about being in a leaership role, it's about what leaership has taught you.(更重要从这个角色中教会了你什么)

The best way to stan out is by making sure you have something meaningful an insightful to say.(富有洞察力,有深刻独特见解)

上文重点解读: 关于内容主旨,所表达的内容应该能体现出申请者独特的观点,切忌堆砌素材,陈词滥造;堆砌与专业度不相关且肤浅幼稚的表述内容,只会让审核者产生疲劳情绪。

Personal profile questions

Depening on which egree(s) you apply to, you’ll be aske to answer some or all of the following questions in your Personal Profile:

1. Explain how you respone to a problem an/or an unfamiliar situation. What i you o, what was the outcome, an what i you learn from the experience?

2. Briefly escribe the culture of your school community an your involvement within it. What impact has the school culture ha on you? How woul you enhance or change it?

3. Tell us about who you are. How woul your family, friens, an/or members of your community escribe you? If possible, please inclue something about yourself that you are most prou of an why.

4.  What is important to you? An why?

5. Describe up to five activities that you have pursue or accomplishments achieve in one or more of the following areas. Please outline the nature of your responsibilities within these activities. (50 wors per escription)

· Club

· Family/community responsibilities

· Creative or performing arts

· Work/employment

· Athletics

· Volunteer

· Service to others

· Other(s)

6. Tell us more about one or two activities liste above that are most important to you. Please explain the role you playe an what you learne in the process. You will be aske for a reference who can speak to your response.

7.  Aitional information: You may wish to use the space below to provie UBC with more information on your acaemic history to ate an/or your future acaemic plans. For example: How i you choose your courses in seconary school? Are there life circumstances that have affecte your acaemic ecisions to ate? What have you one to prepare yourself specifically for your intene area of stuy at UBC?

8. Please submit the names of two referees who know you well an can comment on your prepareness for stuy at UBC. Examples of referees inclue an employer, a community member, a coach, a teacher/instructor, or anyone who knows you well. One of the referees you select must be able to speak to one of the activities/experiences escribe in one of your long-answer responses above. For applicants who are currently attening a high school, one of your referees must be a school official (e.g., Grae 12 or senior year counsellor, teacher, or IB coorinator). Neither referee shoul be a frien, family member, or pai agent.
