综合学术竞争力不够
The main reason(s) we are unable to offer you a place is as follows:
I am afrai your acaemic qualifications are not at an appropriate level for entry onto the programme you have chosen.
你的学术条件未能达到所选专业要求的等级。

学校不在认可名单内
Your unergrauate egree was obtaine from an institution which is not approve for amission to the University of Glasgow. Please note that unfortunately this means that we are not able to consier you for any other postgrauate egree.
你的本科院校不在学校认可的中国大学名单中，因此不但这个专业不能录取，其他硕士专业也无法申请。

均分不够
Unfortunately your application for this course was not successful at this time, the reason is that unfortunately your qualification graes o not meet the University minimum entry requirements.

专业背景不合适
Unfortunately your application has been unsuccessful because your previous qualification subject area is not sufficiently relevant for this programme.
However the Department woul like to refer your application to the MA Golbal an International Citizenship Eucation or MA Social Justice an Eucation.

As you are aware, your application was place on a waiting list. We can now confirm that unfortunately there are no places available for this programme for 2018 entry. This means that we will not be able to make you an offer.
被放在waiting list中的申请，最终也会通知录取或拒绝，如果拒绝，就真的是竞争激烈，没有位置了。

其实，收到以上拒信的同学都是幸运的，至少拒得明明白白。事实上，80%以上的拒信，并不会给出一个具体理由，只是笼统地说：

像这样：

或者这样：
Your application for the MA (Taught): Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) (FT) has been carefully consiere, but I am sorry to inform you that we are unable to make you an offer. May I thank you for your interest in stuy at the University of Birmingham.
如何合理地规避掉这些拒绝理由 ，让申请更顺利呢？只能从两个方面入手：
1) 熟悉英国各大学及相关专业的录取要求，准确定位，选择适合自己的学校和专业来申请，不盲目地当炮灰。
2) 认真确认各大学和专业的申请材料要求，包括学术材料及文书材料要求，严格按要求准备，不要因为材料不合格，或者文书内容不过关导致拒绝。
如果你已经递交申请，甚至已经收到拒信，我们能做点什么呢？那就只能在收到拒信后跟学校争取了。
什么情况下鼓励同学们argue呢？
argue这个词，本身翻译成中文就是“争论、争辩”的意思，只有双方意见不统一，才有争论的动机。
所以，如果学校的评估完全没问题，只是同学们单方面心理不平衡，争论就没有意义了。不如好好想想，我该如何制定更合理的方案，从别处去拿offer。
两种情况下，同学们可以考虑argue：
1）大学没有充分评估你的材料（你没提供，或提供了但学校忽视了）
2）大学错误评估了你的材料，或误解了你的意图。
