首先跟大家简单介绍一下计算机科学专业（computer science）。
Computer science, or computing science, is the stuy of the theoretical founations of information an computation an their implementation an application in computer systems.
Computer science has many sub-fiels; some emphasize the computation of specific results (such as computer graphics), while others (such as computational complexity theory) relate to properties of computational problems.
Still others focus on the challenges in implementing computations. For example, programming language theory stuies approaches to escribing computations, while computer programming applies specific programming languages to solve specific computational problems.
Computer science 的研究领域更广，下设分支：
1. 软件工程-Software Engineering。 SE是CS内部的第一大方向，主要学习的内容为软件设计、编程语言及软件测试。课程包括需求分析、结构设计、开发流程、生命周期 等计算机专业的基础学科、算法等。此专业由于其巨大的市场需求量，美国各个学校的录取名额及奖学金都很多。毕业学生绝大多数一开始从事编程员的工作-coer。
2. 数据库-Database System。 学习范围从关系数据库、云数据库到应用SQL结构化查询语言-Structure Query Language。毕业生主要从事数据库管理工程师，属于高薪岗位，但是大多数应届毕业生需要从实习生做起。
3. 计算机网络-Networking。 这一方向范围非常大，包括网络应用、网络理论、网络安全、网络协议、网络通信等方向。这一专业申请竞争非常激烈，除了CS专业外，电子工程EEECE背景也可申请。就业方向从设备商到运营商到第三方软件开发均可。
4. 人工智能-AI Artificial Intelligence。 这是一个很综合的学科，涵盖了计算机专业的很多小方向。对于申请者的计算机科学背景要求非常高，申请难度很大。就业方面也不是很好，申请人数不多。
5. 计算机图形学-Computer Graphics。 主要研究图像的表达、处理等。与人工智能、软件工程、网络均有交叉。毕业生大多从事游戏设计、电影视频制作等。就业情况好，为申请热门专业。
6. 其它方向 还包括科学与工程计算-Scientific Computing、系统架构-System Architecture、人机交互-Human-computer interaction、计算机理论Computing、信息科学Information Science、管理信息系统Management information system。这几个专业偏理论，学科知识交互多，每年有一定的申请人数。
