1、喜欢某物
×不当表达： Ivery like it.
√地道 表达 ： I like it very much.
这是由于国人习惯了中文语言思维，然后在脑海里逐字翻译的原因。
2、这个价格能接受。
×不当表达： The price is very suitable for me.
√地道表达 ： The price is right. 其实 suitable （合适的、相配的）这个单词最常是以否定的形式出现，比如： The following programme is not suitable for children.
3、询问他人职业
×不当表达： What's your job?
√地道表达： What's your occupation? 在英语环境中，如果对方刚刚失业，如此直接的问法难免会让对方尴尬，所以最好先试探谈话对象是在上班与否（ Are you working at the moment? ）
接下来再询问：目前您在哪儿工作呢？（ Where are you working these days? ）或者您从事哪个行业呢？（ What line of work are you in? ）
当然， occupation 是表示职业的最地道用词了。
4、…用英语怎么说?
×不当表达： How to say ？
√地道表达： How do you say this in English? How to say 是常见中式英语，非地道的英语说法，一定要切记！
类似的疑问可以这么说： How do you spell that please? /How do you pronounce this word?
5、明天有事情要忙。
×不当表达： I have something to do tomorrow
√地道表达： Sorry but I am tied up all day tomorrow. 用 I have something to do 来表示自己很忙，这也完全是中国式的说法。
用语里常见表达我很忙： I'm tied up. / I can't make it at that time. / I'd love to, but I can't, I have to stay at home.
6、我没有英文名字。
×不当表达： I haven't an English name.
√地道表达： I don't have an English name. 许多人讲英语都会犯这样的错误。从语法角度来分析， have 在这里是实义动词，而非完成时里的助动词。
7、我想我不行。
×不当表达： I think I can't.
√地道表达： I don't think I can. 这里面用到了否定前置，汉语里常说 “ 我想我不会 ” ，而英语里面总是说 “ 我不认为我会 ” 。
8、我也不擅长打篮球。
×不当说法： I don't play basketball well too.
√地道表达： I am not a very good basketball player either. 在英语环境中当我们说不擅长做什么事情时，通常用 not good at something 来表示。
