All undergraduate courses at Humboldt University are offered exclusively in German. For this reason, you must have C1 German in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for your application. You can prove the required C1 level with a corresponding certificate (final examination). The Humboldt University of Berlin accepts all common certificates for the application:

TestDaF with at least 3 points in all sub-areas in order to be able to take part in the DSH exam in the event of admission.

Certificates of participation for attending a German course will not be accepted.

If you have submitted language skills in German C1 with your application and have received admission to the course, your knowledge will be checked before enrollment and the start of your studies as part of the "German language test for university admission" (DSH). You will be invited to do this by the university.

Exemption from the DSH exam is possible if you have an equivalent such as the TestDaF with at least a score of 4 in all sub-areas or the “telc C1 Hochschule” exam with a grade of “very good” or “good”, the Goethe exam passed -Certificate C2, the DSH-2 from another German university etc. and the certificate is not older than 3 years.
