There are typically no require courses in the secon year of enrollment in the MSFE program, although stuents will nee to take some PhD-level courses to fulfill the 10 PhD-level egree requirement. Note that these courses o not have to be Finance Division courses, an it is common for stuents to take PhD-level courses in other ivisions of the Business School (e.g., Operations Research, Accounting), or in other epartments/schools at the University (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, the Law School, etc.). All MSFE stuents must complete a substantial research project uner the supervision of a faculty member. The thesis will be guie by a faculty member who will assign a grae to the work. Stuents meet at regular intervals with their thesis avisor to iscuss their progress.
